LYNDA NEOH!
“It doesn’t matter if you are old or young, a beginner or someone who hasn’t danced for years… If you love to dance just try it out so don’t think too much!”
A dancer in her childhood, Lynda saw her daughter dancing and decided to get back into it herself. Hip hop dance initially caught her attention and after some research on Perth dance studios, she settled on Èlan Dance Est. The deal was sealed after watching some of Èlan’s dance class videos, because that’s the vibe she was after.
“I called Rita and she was very friendly over the phone so I booked my first class. Rita is an amazing teacher and she made everyone feel comfortable even though we might not get the steps right the first time. The main thing is to enjoy yourself and add your own groove to the steps we learn. She even made a point for everyone to say hello to someone new whenever we have our drink breaks which I don’t see in any other dance schools. I noticed the culture is more family oriented which is so awesome! I enjoyed it so much that I bought a 10 class pass at the end of the class and then took up the membership.”
Now, a year after her first class we have had the pleasure of watching Lynda’s dance and social skills grow exponentially. She has even recently moved up to our intermediate level. “I love dancing and I’ve taken a backseat for more than 25 years and after having two beautiful kids, I really wanted to find myself again. A year later, I finally became the person I used to be.”
Lynda says that her two favorite memories since joining Èlan would have to be when she was given the opportunity to be one of the 150 performers in the opening of the Western Force game in front of 10,000 people at HBF Park. Music compiled and sung by Sam Perry – The Voice 2018 winner. Secondly, performing at the End of Year Showcase at Regal Theatre. Both milestones for her as it was the first time her kids had ever seen her perform on stage and a joy for her parents to watch as they hadn’t seen her perform since she was 15 years old.
“Dancing makes me feel alive and I also love the challenge to learn new things and become good at them… Èlan will make you feel welcome, no judgment and everyone is so encouraging just like a family!
